Children begin learning from the moment of birth!  Research shows the experiences children have prior to Kindergarten entrance are vitally important to later success in school.  That is why our Early Childhood Education Programs are dedicated to ensure children are ready when they enter kindergarten and families have the tools to ensure that their child can be ready to learn!  We like to think the 5 years before Kindergarten are the most important years of your child’s education.

Our department is made up of 3 different Early Childhood Education Programs.

ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) believes a child's first and most important teacher is their parents.  That's why we offer a number of different classes and events throughout the school year parents and their children to attend together.  Children learn through play and you will see how play is the core to a child's early education when you attend a class with your infant, toddler, or preschooler.
Parenting is the most important and rewarding job you'll ever have--that's why ECFE is here to help you find the best tools to use as your family grows.

Little Cubs Preschool (a MN School Readiness Program)  is a preschool program for children ages 3-5 years and offers a variety of activities to channel children's energies into positive learning experiences. The purpose of Little Cubs Preschool is to provide all children with  adequate opportunities to participate in child development programs. These programs enable the children to enter school with the necessary skills, behavior, family stability and support to succeed.

ECSE (Early Childhood Special Education) program provides a wide variety of services to children and their families, based on individual strengths and needs.  Children from birth to 6 years 11 months can receive ECSE services, if the meet the eligibility requirements set forth by the state of Minnesota.  To be eligible for ECSE services, it must be determined through the screening and assessment process, that a child has special educational needs. We look forward to being your child’s first school experience at Marshall Public Schools!
