Welcome to the West Side Elementary website! West Side houses grades 3 and 4 with approximately 370 students. The average class size is 22-25 students. Students are provided with many different opportunities to grow and learn at their pace. We strive to ensure success for our students by providing quality instruction and a positive environment that promotes learning. Our grade 3-4 staff takes great pride in working toward our mission of “…developing the potential of each learner for success in a changing world.” We work to provide your child with the opportunity to grow and to develop for success in today’s world. We offer a variety of instructional programs to assist each child in his or her learning needs. We are honored that you have chosen to allow us to work with your child!
2016-2017 is our first year with one to one devices at West Side! Each student will be issued a ThinkPad, and staff will be using these devices as teaching tools in daily classroom activities. We are excited about the opportunities this will bring to our students!
We will continue to offer WIN time, a time built into each day for each student to get "What I Need" in both Reading and Math. For some students, this will mean additional interventions for success and for other students this will mean added enrichment activities related to the learning targets we are working on.
To be successful in today’s world, all students need to be able to function in an appropriate manner behaviorally and socially. The primary grades are no exception and provide a sound base for future years. It is our responsibility to teach and guide students in behavioral conduct and to provide a safe, orderly environment allowing all students to learn. Our Tiger Pride team stresses the importance of Being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible in all areas at West Side.
You are welcome to visit school at any time. Children love when their parents are able to visit or join them for lunch! For the safety of our children, we require all visitors to sign in at the main office. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this.
If you have questions, concerns, or needs, please feel free to call, stop by at school, or e-mail me at email@example.com.
Each year the United Way of Southwest Minnesota donates a limited amount of school supplies to be used for students in need. Please note that this year Marshall Public Schools will not be distributing backpacks and supplies before the school year begins. If your family is in need of a backpack and/or school supplies, please talk with your school office during your scheduled visit on September 6th or 7th. This program is designed for families experiencing financial hardship and for students in need. Thank you to the United Way for coordinating this generous program to help each student at Marshall Public Schools be successful in the classroom!
