Welcome to the West Side Elementary website!  I hope you find access to the information you are looking for within these pages.  Teacher websites can be accessed using the links above.  Our grade 3-4 staff takes great pride in working toward our mission of “…developing the potential of each learner for success in a changing world.” We work to provide your child with the opportunity to grow and to develop for success in today’s world.  We offer a variety of instructional programs to assist each child in his or her learning needs.  We are honored that you have chosen to allow us to work with your child!

We are excited to offer some changes in our building and curriculum for the 2014-2015 school year!  With our continually growing enrollment, we have found the need to rearrange a number of spaces within the building to make the best use of the space we have. Our library and computer lab have moved upstairs to allow for three third grade classrooms on the main level.  We have also moved our main office to provide a more secure entrance to the building.  Door number 1 will now be our main entrance to the building, and while door 2 on the south side will still be open for student drop off, we will be asking all visitors during the school day to enter door 1 on the east side of the building and register in the office before entering the school.

We are also excited about our new WIN time, a time built into each day for each student to get "What I Need" in both Reading and Math.  For some students, this will mean additional interventions for success and for other students this will mean added enrichment activities related to the learning targets we are working on.

To be successful in today’s world, all students need to be able to function in an appropriate manner behaviorally and socially.  The primary grades are no exception and provide a sound base for future years.  It is our responsibility to teach and guide students in behavioral conduct and to provide a safe, orderly environment allowing all students to learn. Students are guided in making appropriate choices, in developing character traits, and in achieving academically.

You are welcome to visit school at any time.  Children love when their parents are able to visit or join them for lunch!   For the safety of our children, we require all visitors to sign in at the main office at each building.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this.

If you have questions, concerns, or needs, please feel free to call, stop by at school, or e-mail me at jeremy.williams@marshall.k12.mn.us.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Williams
