• Welcome!
My name is Mrs. Ryks and this is my 16th year teaching, and is my 10th year teaching in Marshall Public Schools.  The middle school years are a special time in a student's life, and I am grateful for the opportunity to teach them during this important time.  I appreciate the support you give your 8th grader and look forward to working together this year!
    Some fun facts about me...
    - I live on a farm with my awesome husband, Corey, and our four kids (Laurel 10, Matthew 8, Ben 5, Rosie 4).  We really cherish family time!
    - I love traveling!  I have spent time in Colombia, South Korea, Tanzania, South Africa, Czech Republic, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Poland, Spain, Italy, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, England, Mexico, Canada, etc. Traveling has taught me more about myself, about culture, the world, people, geography, etc than any other experience.  I love it and seem to have caught the 'travel bug'!
    - I also love reading!  Some favorite books of mine are the Bible, Ordinary Grace, Sarah's Key, All the Light We Cannot See, The Nightingale, Behold the Dreamers, The Giver, and Fault in our Stars.
    - I graduated from Winona State University in 2004, earned a Master's in Education from Saint Mary's University in 2007, and completed a certificate in Gifted Education from University of California-Riverside in 2017.  I continue to take courses during the summers to learn more about the way kids learn.
    - I love playing volleyball, board games, camping, being outside, farm life, Twins games, watching Marshall Tiger sports, and can't get enough of my family.
    - I am originally from Tracy, Minnesota, and love being back in the area in Marshall, in a community I enjoy so much.
    Thanks for visiting!
