The Marshall Speech Spectacular!

The Marshall Speech Spectacular, now in its 16th year, is regarded as one of the most prestigious speech tournaments in the Midwest.  Attracting nationally-ranked teams from as many as eight different states, few tournaments can boast the diversity and intensity of competition that the "Spectacular" can.  Marshall High School and Southwest Minnesota State University combine to provide facilities for the event that consists of almost 1,000 speakers and judges.
The Spectacular is truly a "one-of-a-kind" tournament.  Over the course of two days on the last weekend in January, participants are separated into Varsity and Novice divisions and then square-off in 5 preliminary rounds of competition.  From there speakers can advance to quarter, semi, and final elimination rounds.   For the sixth straight year, varsity speakers who advance can receive a "bid" for the National Individual Event Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) held in May.  There are few tournaments that can match the competitive uniqueness of the "Spectacular!"
Teams that are interested in attending the 2016 Marshall Speech Spectacular on January 29-30, should visit www.speechwire.com  Or, contact Rick.Purrington@marshall.k12.mn.us for more information.
