Office of the School SuperintendentMr. Jeremy Williams
Hello, and thank you for visiting Marshall Public Schools’ website! I’m excited to serve as the Interim Superintendent of schools this year! 2020-2021 will be my 20th year working for Marshall Public Schools, where I have served as a Spanish Teacher at the High School, the Assistant Principal at both the ALC and the High School, the Principal at West Side Elementary, and most recently as the Director of Teaching and Learning. These varied experiences have given me an understanding of many aspects of our District that will help me as we work together toward our vision “To be the premier school district where every student is inspired every day.”
Last spring, we entered uncharted territory as we faced the COVID-19 pandemic and needed to close our buildings to offer Distance Learning for all of our students. I was honored to work with all our staff and families as they fully embraced that situation and, as difficult as it was, helped our students connect with their teachers and engage in meaningful learning activities. At the same time, we provided childcare for our community frontline workers and served Grab and Go lunches, snacks, and breakfasts to any child needing one. As we ended the year without a traditional graduation ceremony, end of year field day, field trip, or summative assessment, we all looked forward to putting this behind us and returning to less social distancing and more face to face instruction.
The world is still facing this pandemic, and this fall will not bring with it a return to “normal”, but rather we will continue to closely monitor MDE, CDC, and MDH guidelines as we determine the safest way to come back together and “Inspire” every day! We continue to work to find ways to meet the needs of all our learners in an equitable way, including Social-Emotional and Academic needs. The staff and families of Marshall Public Schools are second to none, and together we will continue to face this challenge. I know we’ll come out even better on the other side!
I look forward to continuing the strong, positive relationships that Marshall Public Schools has developed with the many stakeholders and community members to make Marshall Public Schools a district noted for quality and an ongoing commitment to excellence in all that we do. Our future demands it and our children deserve it!
