I grew up in Rock Rapids, Iowa and graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1994. I then attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa where I earned degrees in both English and Theatre. After Northwestern, I taught for two years at Nodaway Valley High School in Greenfield, a small Iowa town about an hour Southwest of Des Moines. I accepted a teaching job in Marshall in the spring of 2002 and began teaching at MHS that fall.
During my time in Marshall, I have taught a wide variety of English courses in addition to advising the yearbook staff for 3 years, coaching speech for 5 years, and directing over 25 productions in the theatre. Currently, I teach AP Language and Composition, Senior Writing, Honors British Literature, Acting, Theatre Technology, and Video Production. I also direct the fall musical, one act play, and spring play.
I live in town with my beautiful wife Denise (also an English teacher at Marshall Middle School), our son Danny (15), son Dale (6), daughter Lolita (4) and our lovable Golden Retriever, Agatha. You can see us all of us on the right (except the dog) on the beaches of Lake Michigan a few summers ago while visiting my sister and her family over the 4th of July. I sincerely enjoy being a member of the MHS faculty and the Marshall community. It is an outstanding place to teach and raise a family!
