Tomorrow's Tigers Marshall Schools Operating Levy 2025

The Marshall School Board has officially decided to propose a referendum to voters during the November 2025 election.

The last time our district proposed an operating levy in 2022, we sounded the alarm on an impending budget deficit of nearly $2 million. Fast forward to today, that deficit is here: $1.8 million heading into this school year, despite $350,000 in cuts 2024-2025 and maximization of our COVID-related federal funding. Without new support, our district will need to close the deficit gap through a combination of cuts to staff and programming, and the use of emergency funds.

The proposed solution: A 10-year operating levy that will generate $2 million annually to stabilize the budget and sustain important progress in academics and student support, if approved by voters.

To help our community learn more, we’ve launched an informational website: www.tomorrowstigers.org

The site includes:

  • A breakdown of our district’s financial challenges

  • How funds from the proposed levy would be used

  • What’s at stake if new funding is not approved

  • Tax information for property owners

  • Voting details

The goal of this referendum is to protect what’s working: strong early literacy scores, growing enrollment in career and technical education programs, and the dedicated staff who make it all possible. These are things we’ve accomplished in spite of our financial challenges, but make no mistake, further cuts to our staff and programming will only harm our future progress.

Please take a few minutes to explore and share the site. We’ll continue sharing updates throughout the fall. Thank you for being part of the Tiger community.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Williams
