Marshall Middle School

401 S Saratoga St, Marshall, MN 56258

Principal: Peggy Reynolds
My name is Peggy Reynolds, and I have been in education for close to 30 years. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Gustavus Adolphus College. In 2000, I completed my Master's degree in Education from Winona State University, and in the spring of 2022, I received my Education Specialist Degree and Principal licensure from Concordia University, St. Paul.
I have taught middle school band, middle school media arts, elementary music, and worked with high school marching band in Hastings, MN and Pipestone, MN. I have enjoyed working with all ages, but I have to say that working with middle school kids is my favorite! They are finding out who they are and where their strengths lie. They have the entire world ahead of them and are not afraid to try new things. They are extremely sociable, but still want to be helpful. Their energy level is sometimes through the roof but will also exhibit great empathy towards others. I absolutely love the middle school environment!
If there is ever a concern with your child, please reach out. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of growth, success, and excitement!

Assistant Principal: Bennett Appel

Welcome, Tigers! I am Bennett Appel and I am fortunate to be serving as the Assistant Principal at Marshall Middle School. I have called Marshall, MN my home ever since I attended college at Southwest Minnesota State University in 2016. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education, M.S. in Teaching, Learning and Leadership, and am finishing up my Ed.S. in Educational Administration & Leadership. I began teaching in 2020 at Park Side Elementary, then transitioned to Southview where I taught 3rd and 4th grade. My favorite thing about Marshall is the sense of community I feel wherever I go.
I am thrilled to learn, lead, and grow alongside our phenomenal staff at Marshall Middle School. When I think of MPS, I think of a district that provides opportunities for all. We aim to provide a learning environment that will prepare our learners to be successful for their next step. I am passionate about creating positive relationships, helping others, and learning about the best strategies to support the ever-changing world of education. At Marshall Middle School, we believe in pushing every student to their full potential and tailoring our teaching to fit all learning styles. I love the energy, excitement, and personality that middle schoolers bring each day.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am looking forward to a great year here at MMS. Go Tigers!
