5th grade students had the opportunity to attend the Environmental Fair at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. Students participated in numerous sessions pertaining to recycling, glaciers, soil, wetlands, drones, trees, stream tables, the zoo-mobile, contained fires, prairies, energy, and many more. We had a wonderful day and enjoyed the hands-on learning opportunities.





Our homecoming football game and dance are fast approaching this Friday! The football game starts at 7pm at Mattke field, SMSU and there is a tailgating meal before the game. Here's the information about the dance - we hope to see you there!

Students in 8th grade social studies have applying their map skills and physical geography vocabulary to create their own fictious land mass. It's been fun to see their knowledge and creativity come together to produce high quality work!

Thank you to the SMSU Boys Basketball team for coming and spending the day at Southview during the students phy-Ed time. They all had a blast.







MATEC dress-up days for HOCO week!

The reason for the visit was for MDE to get to meet our team; listen to our concerns and ideas; experience the great work we are doing for our students and strengthen the relationship between the school community and MDE.

Southview and Parkside Elementary dress-up days for Homecoming week next week!

Welcoming Week in Justice Park was a huge success. Thank you for coming out!

Free financial aid events are available to Minnesota students and families via Zoom. The series, running on Tuesday evenings in October, is intended for current high school students and will cover general information about the financial aid process, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college. All sessions will have interpretation in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Attendees can ask questions in the chat and have them answered during the event by financial aid experts. Students who attend any of the sessions will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 scholarship (one entry per session attended). Space is limited so register soon! These sessions are offered by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Minnesota Department of Education, ECMC The College Place and Minnesota Goes to College.
